AI training and implementation
AI consultancy for UK SMEs
Beyond Touch is an AI training and implementation firm based in Spilsby, Lincolnshire, working with SME owners and leadership teams across the UK. Since 2013 we have delivered 200+ workshops and 26,000+ participant hours of direct support to 4,400+ people. Most of that work is now about AI.
Two things tend to bring people here. One is a team that has been handed Copilot or ChatGPT and is quietly not using it. The other is an owner who can see the tools are useful and has no idea which job to point them at first. Both are fixable in weeks rather than quarters.
We train people to use the tools properly, then help you build them into how the business already runs. Sessions run in person or online. Being an AI consultant in Lincolnshire means most of our local work is face to face, in Lincoln, Boston, Skegness and across the county, and the rest of the client list is spread across the UK. It also means nobody we work with has a data team, and nobody is going to build one.
Three routes below. If you are not sure which applies, start anywhere and we will tell you if you have picked the wrong one.

AI Strategy and Readiness
Working out where AI fits your business, what to do first, and whether you are ready for it.

AI Implementation
Getting the tools working inside your business rather than alongside it, with your team and on your systems.

AI Training
In-house training on Copilot, Claude and prompt skills, built around the work your team already does.
How the work actually runs
Most AI projects fail for reasons that have nothing to do with the technology. The tools get bought before anyone has worked out what job they are for, nobody is trained properly, and six months later the licences are still being paid for and nobody opens them. We work in a way that makes that harder to do.
1. We look at what your people actually do all day. Not the process map, the real thing. Where the time goes, which tasks everyone quietly dreads, what gets rekeyed from one system into another. This is usually a workshop and it takes half a day.
2. We pick one job worth handing over. One, not ten. It needs to be something that happens often enough to matter, and something you can measure before and after. Sometimes the honest answer at this stage is that AI is not your problem, and we will say so.
3. We check your data will stand it up. AI is only as good as what you feed it. This step tends to surface things nobody wanted to find, which is exactly why it comes before you spend money rather than after.
4. We build it small and prove it works. A narrow version of the thing, running on real work, with a number attached. If it does not earn its keep, you have lost weeks rather than a year and a budget.
5. We train the people who have to run it. This is the step most often skipped and it is the one that decides whether any of it survives. Training is built around your own tasks rather than generic exercises, because people use what they have practised on their own work.
6. We agree what good looks like, then come back and check. Governance sounds heavy for a small business. In practice it means knowing who owns the tool, what it is allowed to touch, and what you do when it gets something wrong.
Some clients want all six. Plenty start at step one and stop there, or come to us only for step five because they already know what they need. Strategy and readiness covers the first three, implementation covers four and six, and training is step five on its own.
What this looks like when it has been done
Three from the case study library, chosen because they are different kinds of business rather than because they are the best results. All of them are anonymised at the client's preference, and all of them are real engagements.
A robotics engineering firm was paying for software nobody had audited. We went through what the subscriptions were actually doing, worked out which jobs AI could take over, and rebuilt the operating model around what was left. Read the full study.
A solar installer was competing against national firms with a fraction of their budget. AI-powered market intelligence let them see where the giants were weak and reposition against it, without hiring an analyst. Read the full study.
A community cook school CIC came out of an AI workshop with things they could actually do. Not a strategy document. A short list of changes, and the confidence to make them. Read the full study.
There are more, including a community organisation that replaced thousands of pounds of translation cost with free tools, and an HR consultancy that went from civil service to trading in eight weeks. The full case study library has the lot.
